Sound Bite: Mark Wahlberg – did the character resonate with him
Big time, big time, which is why I was looking forward to the end of the movie so I could hopefully walk away with my sanity because I have to put myself in that head-space in imagining something horrific happening to my kids 12 hours a day is not fun.

Sound Bite: Mark Wahlberg – more on character
Yeah I try to make everything I do as real as possible so you have to go to that place, I don’t know, what else am I gonna do. Think about my dead dog? You know? When I was a boy? You know I have to go to that place but that is enough to get me going, for sure.

Sound Bite: Mark Wahlberg – on getting to do some more action
Yeah, definitely, especially after playing a science teacher in The Happening and looking at the trees and the bushes and never really getting to whip out the chainsaw on them, yeah it was nice to finally go off and be proactive.

Sound Bite: Mark Wahlberg – on the video game
I didn’t know about it until after I read the script and then of course seeing, hearing about you know being based on the video game I had to check out the game and see what it was all about but it’s very different than the games I grew up playing that’s for sure.

Sound Bite: Mark Wahlberg – on video games
They’re more complicated, they’re more addictive, uh yeah they’re all story driven, you know but I couldn’t be like, oh I can’t change a diaper right now, I gotta try to get to level 5. (talks) No my assistant did. Yeah. I let him play it.

Sound Bite: Mark Wahlberg – on movies being based on games
Yeah and I really wasn’t aware of it, you know, I wasn’t aware of the ones that were good and the ones that were bad the ones that did good versus the ones that weren’t so well-received. I just read the script and liked it and thought well, I don’t care where these stories come from, as long as they’re good and interesting and you know and there’s only so many stories to tell anyway as long as you find new fresh ways to tell them and again for selfish reasons being able to play a character that just gets to go crazy and really has license because of you know what happened to him and the fact that he’s driven by emotion and this tragedy you know of his wife and child being murdered.

Sound Bite: Mark Wahlberg – the animosity toward corporations
Oh yeah I think the next Max Payne is gonna take place on Wall Street. (talks) How can you not? The economy is down the toilet. (talks) I’m voting. I’m voting and I’m encouraging young people to get out there and register and I’m hoping that we make history. (talks) Definitely. Definitely. I mean it’s what, 26 days until the election. A lot can happen.
