HE WAS A STRING BASS PLAYER WHO PERFORMED IN THE STORYVILLE DISTRICT UNTIL IT CLOSED IN 1917 AND COULD BE SEEN AT PRESERVATION HALL IN THE 1960S. PAPA JOHN IS SEEN SEATED OUTSIDE AT A TABLE THAT HOLDS FLOWERS AND A CAKE. ONE OF THE CAHN BOYS STANDS BY HIM AND THEY CONVERSE. PAPA JOHN IS SEEN WITH A CIGAR WHILE CAKE IS SERVED. CUTS TO A MAN IN JACKSON SQUARE WEARING A SIGN THAT READS "READ / MAGNOLIA GEHTTO / BY / JOHN BEECHER / IN / DECEMBER / RAMPARTS." THE MAN APPEARS TO BE SELLING COPIES IN FRONT OF ST. LOUIS CATHEDRAL."
