Sound Bite: Gabriel Macht & Eva Mendez Eva - Well you you I saw the potential for it because of Frank Miller and Sin City and 300 and you know you know you’re working with like a genius crazy brains that gonna make it all happen. He’s such a visionary so you trust, you completely trust. (Interviewer Speaks). Well you know it was written in the 40s. Will Isner wrote this in the 40s so it definitely; we pay homage to that a bunch of different times I think. (Interviewer Speaks). Gabriel – It’s uh, we’ve tried to take a modern take on it where its uh timeless so it’s a wink to the 40s and it’s a throwback to that time with the wardrobe um but, there are cell phones and flack jackets and you know big machine guns and helicopters and um. Eva – I think there were machine guns in the 40s. Gabriel – Yeah I think there was; you know what I’m just um, my brain went out the window for a second. Eva – That’s ok! (Interviewer speaks) Gabriel – This? Oh yeah you know it’s it’s an opportunity of a lifetime uh I grew up you know watching comic book movies and super heroes and you know when I got the opportunity to play with these guys and and Frank Miller whos you know a borderline genius and and you know an Icon in the comic book world and um you know you say yes to something like this. A02. HRN-2972 Cam A In: 12:50:13 Out: 12:51:42 Sound Bite: Gabriel Macht & Eva Mendez Eva – Well it definitely felt glamorous and just uh. I felt like a dame, I felt like a broad back then and it was all very intentional but, what was interesting was I I you know I just wanted to make my character not only glamorous and beautiful and she is obsessed with shiny things which are diamonds –But I didn’t want to make her superficial so I rooted her in you know and I made her come for a place of pain and the fact that she has this exterior that is just to the ten except that she is completely broken inside. (Interviewer speaks) Eva – Well exactly she’s just hurt. Gabriel – (Whispers) she’s a bad girl. Eva – She’s just hurt. She lost her father to accidental; you know an accidental murder. She realized that people were not always going to be there for her and you know that things were not stable. She found stability in rocks which, are you know diamonds –diamonds are rocks and that is the most stable thing she found. So in her quest to fill a void she’s you know; she becomes a jewel thief and she just needs that solidity in her life which she gets from diamonds. Gabriel - it’s too bad. If she just stuck by the spirit then she would be on the straight and narrow and… Eva – Yeah but then she wouldn’t become the, you know the exotic woman that she is today. Gabriel – That’s true Eva- Laughs. |
