And still happening on Ivory Coast the Democratic Republic of Congo is still suffering from you know the illicit strain of the diamonds and certainly conflict diamonds are you know as well. (talks) I cant help it you know I do I mean I cant help because I still go you know I travel and see relatives, to visit relatives in Africa in my hometown and I cant help but you know, you cross you know various conflict areas you know throughout the continent and it’s just devastating what’s going on and still in that forest issues are still going on there and it’s heart breaking and so this is why the story resonates loudly for me personally because first of all I am African and secondly it just it’s a beautiful story you know a powerful human story that embraces several other issues you know surrounding the continent. You know the issues of child soldiers, the issues of you know the level of corruption thought out the continent, the issues of refugees that are effecting neighboring countries all around. So its, it hit home. |

And most people don’t know, I mean listen how many Jewelers, you can go around California big jewelers that knows about conflict diamonds (talks) most of them don’t and that’s why this is important because at least it brings out you know a greater, a great amount of awareness to the on the issue and how its devastating the livelihood of you know the African people and suddenly I have yet to see where the benefit for the African people or the Africans or the countries in Africa that have Diamonds and have been cultivating diamonds and selling to the west. How come they are much more deprived then they were before they found diamonds in those places. |
