In: 14.33.29 Out: 14.33.47 Sound bite: Eddie Murphy The most common question…oh..what have I been asked the most? Is it surprising that, was it fun to sing. What was it like to sing? |

In: 14.33.48 Out: 14.34.27 Sound bite: Eddie Murphy Yeah, in the 80s I did a couple of records that weren’t well received. (talks) techno pop. There was one song in particular that was on the charts and all that shit. I had a record called party all the time music. You might be too young for that. My girl wants to party all the time. It was a huge…it went to number two on the pop charts for three weeks and all that shit. Hugh hit, horrible song and that was my musical contribution. |

In: 14.34.35 Out: 14.35.11 Sound bite: Eddie Murphy I saw this play on Broadway five times twenty-five years ago. I remember the play very well and I remember when the play was a big deal. Jennifer Holiday came to Saturday Night Live. She was a musical guest. Sang I am telling you and all I remember is I remember this really really well. And I remember Cleveland Derricks as James ‘Thunder’ Early. I remember seeing the play thinking he is funny and thinking oh that guy is good. I remember the role back then standing out. Back then. I never never thinking oh I am going to play that. |

In: 14.35.14 Out: 14.35.48 Sound bite: Eddie Murphy They called me about it. I don’t think the script ever floated around. Geffin has been trying, maybe four or five times over the last twenty years. He has had, he has developed different scripts and it just didn’t worked and finally Bill Condon. He hooked up with Bill Condon and they nailed it and Bill Condon said he was thinking of me when they wrote it so when he contacted me my first reaction was no because it was like, we are doing Dreamgirls but we are not paying. Well then I’m not in it. And they relented and I am so glad I did it. |

In: 14.35.53 Out: 14.36.22 Sound bite: Eddie Murphy To do something I hadn’t done. Making movies for 25 years. I played everything from a donkey to a little old lady. I had never done a musical. Now I am at the point, it’s like, what can I do? I’m trying to find new ways to be funny and do something that is like, how do you stay relevant after twenty-five years in so I take some chances and do some stuff. |
