How good is she. How good is she.it might have been the first time might have been the first time it actually was on set and she came on set and im going woaah. I don’t know how I can handle this but she has only a couple of scenes in the movie and if she hadn’t brought all of this stuff that she has with it you know there no way this movie would of worked she has to be cranked up in every scene and give us the whole history very quickly

she I think every, forget about me all the actors in this movie deserve it they really brought incredible stuff to this. It had been kicking around and I read it, it wasn’t here it was in new york, here’s this great script you wanna read it its great send it, I read it, and it was a terrific script, every scene something going on, you know I thought it was great but I wasn’t sure it was for me I don’t know if I would of cast myself in it, why I was thinking that I don’t know, but then a couple years later it hadn’t been made,Lasse called me up,Lasse Hallstrom, the director our brilliant director he said look I got this script you know and we’ve been friends a while and vaguely been trying to find something we could do together I read it immediately called him right after I finished and I said absolutely lets go and I clearly saw how I could make this work, and whatever my problem was the first time around with this and probably the fact that Lasse directing it, I could see that it wasn’t going to be a cartoon and it wouldn’t be to serious that it would be able to find this strange tone if Lasse does really well where it can be deeply human bordering on slapstick and at the same time have great gravitas and emotion to it you know I think that’s the delicate touch that Lasse does and his best work that’s his thing that’s his great gift, the other thing was is that the worlds changed.

That would have been we made it over a year ago so 3 years ago 4,5 years ago maybe, and it would have been it might have been before the war so and the enormous lies that got us into this war that has sustained us in this insane war give so much more resinous to this story and the parallels between the 1971 story that were telling in Vietnam, a president who lies, Watergate craziness and our present with this insane war in Iraq, and this insane war on terrorism and the President the Vice president , Attorney General and a secretary Defense, Secretary Estate who lied to us, I mean who, there not supposed to do that there, their not paid to do that there paid to tell us the truth their paid to be us, to represent us, to be wide open in representing us, so any how the residence between small lies and big lies and the times, I think gives us resonance what it might have 5 years ago.
