Sound Bite: Will Smith – Actor
Very nervous, very nervous.
OC: You saw the movie, what did you think of her performance?
Will: I just thought she was fantastic, you know, it’s like, it’s amazing it can be in their blood, an actor marries an actress and you go to Mexico and get some Tequila and nine months later an actress shows up. (He laughs)
OC: What kind of types where you giving her, when she was acting and practicing her lines?
Will: It’s a very big deal in our house that Daddy is not allowed to give advice unless it’s asked for, um, Daddy, um, Daddy tends to be a little aggressive with uh, with giving of advice, so I was voted down, so I have to sit and wait until they ask and then if they ask then I’m allowed to give advice and she didn’t ask on this film. (He laughs)
OC: She was in a major, this is a major role for her, this is her first movie where she has a major role and how did she do?
Will: She understands emotion, you know, and that’s a thing you can’t teach, you can either feel other people’s pain, you can either empathize or you can’t, you know, it’s one of those things, it’s a natural tool that great actors have and she has it, so, you know, she has the talent so now all we have to do is the develop the skill.
OC: Where you nervous for her to do a full length, I mean she’s played little itty, bitty parts before?
Will: You know, I mean, for me, I know you gotta let your kids go, it’s very nerve racking, but for me, it’s better that she goes for it at 7, 8, 9, years old, gets out there, decides if it’s something that she wants to do, you know, rather than latter in her life, you know, so.

Sound Bite: Madison Pettis – Actress
Um, I have Kristen, I like her a lot, she’s really pretty, I love dressing all of them up, its really hard to pick one of my favorite, I love Samantha, Molly, Addy, Kiya.
OC: Well you know they all have stories, which stories do you like?
Madison: I like Molly’s cause her Dad is going through the war, I think that’s really interesting. And I like Kiya, cause she’s going through the native American Indian times, that’s really cool, I also like Addy, cause she’s like going through the slave times, there all really interesting, it’s really cool, to learn about all the history and they have a new doll which is from the 70’s names Julie, and Mommy is like, “That’s history?” (She laughs)
OC: Do you still keep in touch with DeWayne are you guys still friends?
Madison: I do.
OC: Get Smart are you going to go see it?
Madison: I want to go see it, it looks really funny, yeah, it looks really funny, I remember when we were doing like Press for ???, he was talking about how fun it was to film and how nice Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway were, so I’m really excited to see that movie, it looks really funny.

Sound Bite: Zach Mills – “Stirling Howard” – Kit Kittredge An American Girl
I learned a great deal about the Great Depression, I, before I filmed Kitt Kittredge, I knew of the Great Depression, I just didn’t know it was that bad, people losing houses, having to sleep in hobo jungles, it was really quit terrible, but, you know.
OC: Like nowadays, normally when kids hear things like “the economy’s bad, or recession”, they don’t know what that means, but you know what that means now right?
Zach: Um, a few of those words I know. (He laughs)
OC: And eh what was it like to working with Abigail?
Zach: Abigail Breslin, is so nice, she is so down to earth, uh, being a movie star and Oscar nominee, really hasn’t effected her one bit, she’s so nice, if you come up to her on the street and ask for an autograph or picture, she’ll sign the autograph and give you her picture, you know, um, no matter how big a stack of paper or how many pictures you want, she’s really nice, always with a smile too.
OC: And on the set of this movie, who ruled the kids or the grown up’s?
Zach: Um, I think the grown up’s like to think they ruled, (he laughs), but the kids.

Sound Bite: Wallace Shawn – “Mr. Gibson” – Kit Kittredge An American Girl
Well, she’s fantastic to work with, she is a marvelously talented actor, uh, one of the most talented, so, uh, yes it was exciting.

Sound Bite: Wallace Shawn – “Mr. Gibson” – Kit Kittredge An American Girl
You know, I, I, I, don’t know much as I should about dolls, uh, I’m a…
OC: I mean in this particular instance?
Wallace: Oh, yes, I, I, I should know much more than I do about the American Girl phenomenon, I am more in my personal life involved with books or maybe an occasional movie, playing with a doll thing, if I did it, I may not even tell you about it, I don’t really. I should, I should.
