RC: ONE OF FATS VERY FAVORITE EARLY SONGS WAS SWANNY RIVER BOOGIE BY ALBERT AMMONDS I THINK IT WAS 1947 BUT UH THAT WAS WHEN HE REALLY STARTED PLAYING A LOT MORE DURING THAT TIME AND UH HE SAID THAT THE WAY HE GOT INTO THAT RECORD WAS HE WAS WORKING AT THE DOUGLAS LUMBER YARD AND AT LUNCH THEY WOULD GO TO A LITTLE CAFE HAVE A SANDWICH AND HE WOULD PLAY SWANNY RIVER BOOGIE BY ALBERT AMMONDS LIKE FIVE OR SIX TIMES IN A ROW AND DRIVE EVERYBODY CRAZY BUT THATS TEH WAY HE WAS HE WAS TOTALLY OBSESSIVE ABOUT MUSIC AND BUT ANYWAY HE LEARNED TO PLAY THAT MUSIC AND THAT SONG PARTICULARLY AND HE GOT TO BE SO GOOD AT IT THAT HE JUST PLAYED IT LIGHTNING FAST HE WAS MUCH FASTER THAN ALBERT AMMONDS WAS ON THAT RECORD SO HE LIKE ROCKED IT OK SO THIS WAS LIKE AN EARLY VERSION OF WHAT HE DID HE JUST LOVED UP TEMPO ROCKING SOUND AND UH SO THAT SONG ACTUALLY BECAME HIS SIGNATURE SONG WHEN HE FIRST STARTED PLAYING LITTLE TINY CLUBS OF THE NINTH WARD BEFORE HE EVEN GOT TO THE HIDEAWAY HE WAS PLAYING IT AND OF COURSE WHEN HE GOT TO THE HIDEAWAY IT BECAME ONE OF HIS STANDARDS THERE TOO AND UH THEY JUST LOVED JUST TO HEAR HIM PLAY IT AND SOMETIMES HE'D PLAY IT THREE OR FOUR TIMES A NIGHT AND UH HE LATER ON HE FINALLY RECORDED IT UM AND THEN ANOTHER FAVORITE OF FATS..

GREAT NOVELTY LYRICS THE KIND THAT WOULD BE ASSOCIATED WITH ROCK AND ROLL LATER ON AND AS A MATTER OF FACT IT HAS A LITTLE GUITAR RIFT WHICH CHUCK BERRY WOULD KIND OF BORROW RIGHT AT THE BEGINNING OF IT SO THAT WAS ONE OF HIS MAJOR INFLUENCES BUT LOUIE JORDAN INFLUENCED BASICALLY EVERYBODY IN ROCK AND ROLL RIGHT AT THAT TIME PERIOD.
