Sound Bite: Gerard Butler – the transition guy with Oscar actors
Yeah, I guess I’m the guinea pig guy, I’m Mr. Transition. If you want to make a transition, go with Gerry Butler. I’ll tell you something else, I noticed today when I was just looking at the poster, no maybe it was one of the trailers that I saw and I thought, I’m so sick of Academy Award winner, Academy Award nominee, and Gerard Butler, and the last one was like, and heart throb Gerard Butler, that’s my, that’s my Oscar, but um, yeah I guess it’s true, and that was cool, it was really cool to work with Hillary and you know do that comedy, I found that really refreshing and Jodie as well, when you see somebody, you know it’s a challenge for them to come out of themselves so I loved that. |

Sound Bite: Gerard Butler – playing 2 characters
So it was a challenge for me. (talks) Yeah I was, so that took some strange discussions. At times I would be like, this is what I wanna do, and she’d be like, well actually you’re my ego. Okay, I know I’m your ego, but I’m still me and I like still, it never really lead to many arguments but it was interesting, it was a bit of a, it was a bit of a mind fart at times, so um, but it was cool to play those 2 different characters and they’re both a lot of similarities but also completely different. |

Sound Bite: Gerard Butler – doing a different kind of film
I think when you take on a film you consider many factors, but at the end of the day you go with your gut and knowing who I was gonna be doing it with and reading the script I was left genuinely really charmed, but then you think, well what else, I think it’s a completely different audience and it is very much a breakaway from the 300 kind of films and but yeah, a new audience was definitely a consideration. But my agent said the only people that would watch Nim’s Island and 300 are me and you. But actually I disagree because this is, this film has a pace to it, you know and it has some edge, surprising edge, and it’s not an easy journey for any of them, you know I think a lot of times you think, okay surely he’s going to lighten up now, but no it really tests you and that’s, that always at the end of the day leads to more excitement, more drama, and at the end of the day a more powerful message. |
