Sound Bite: Ben Stiller / Chris Rock – old lady being beaten up
Stiller – Well I don’t think you see old ladies being beaten up in movies enough, you know.
Rock – Not enough.
Stiller – At least not in a graphic way, and I think this film really sort of gives you a chance to live out those fantasies. Yeah no it is you know it was fun to sort of having done the first one to see what worked in the first one and what we wanted to sort of try and play off and discover the characters in the processes of making the first one.

Stiller – Yeah I mean I think that’s what’s sort of uh you know the part of these movies is the idea of friendship and also family and have friendship versus family because like you know Marty and Alex have this friendship but Alex’s family and his discovering his family sort of challenges that because Alex is sort of in that world and then Marty’s figuring out his own thing.
Rock – Yeah you know it’s trying to stand out and fit in at the same time, it’s kind of like being an artist in general, you’re trying, you’re attracted to things because they’re you know because me personally I’m always attracted to new ideas but at the same time you want to be included, like you notice every time you’re not included. “Hey how come they didn’t call me?” You know like…
Stiller – All the time.
Rock – All the time you try to be different, different the moment you don’t get called.

Sound Bite: Ben Stiller / Chris Rock – the only time they get to work together is during press?
Rock – We worked one day, we did one session together.
Stiller – Yeah. (talks) I believe it’s the scene where you uh were you know where I can’t tell you apart and you get offended.
Rock – Okay.
Stiller – I think so. I think that’s what it was. This was 6 years ago. You have to understand it’s a long process.
