Yah you gotta feel them a little bit and you can’t really phone in on a movie like this cuz I’ts just you in a hotel room not that I phone in stuff you know you better be on point if your going to sustain it.

No this one was uh really uh kind of a fun weird thing to do cuz the movie is so ambitious in such a strange way it’s kind of a big movie but it takes place in one hotel suite and you think once you get in there and you start going how can we sustain this can we keep toping ourselves can we keep the tension and you find the room is a portal to all these different dimensions but its really your gonna be confronted with your own demons the room is going to use your own past and your going to have to confront the scariest things in your deepest darkest recess in your heart you know and that so in a sort of mythological sense but then how do we sustain this and there’s a good fifty minute stretch and its just him in this room and it’s not boring and it’s not small so it felt like uh very crazy thing to try and pull off so it’s nice to kind of challenge yourself that way

And it’s actually very physical its actually an action movie in a way (mike talks)and fire and ice and ledges and vents (mike talks) yah well there was some CGI for the ledge stuff mostly it was just sets and actor and room and some ghosts and some ghosts from the past.

Not until after I read the script but I loved it (mike talks) but a lot of time short stories really lead themselves to films better then novels because the film can kind of expand out from the short story and there’s so much in a novel that it’s very hard to reduce it down to the economy you need for a movie but a short story is kind of a perfect set up it’s sort a perfect launching pad for a script to be written from a short story actually

Well no, no this is a pretty no-brainer, terrific director great producer great source material weird acting challenge where you think how do you pull this off one guy in a room and um I like things where you don’t quite know how your going to do it if it’s sustainable I mean its kind of a its fun it really gets you going in the morning cuz you think how are you going to pull this off

You think of it that way but it also comes out of when you get the steaks to the right peak then if you kind of react honestly then it can be funny and terrifying at the same time cuz you know there’s a lot of time when your in a very tense situation things will be funny just when you look back at it you don’t realize people were laughing hysterically for a minute right before they were crying so it seems to me that’s how life is so you know why um why not make it as a vile as possible

Um let’s see Misery, Shawshank Redemption, Carry , The Shinning (mike talks) well I’ve always thought that Stephen King was always underrated as a writer cuz he’s so prolific and um because he deals with the supernatural and horror but he write some wonderful characters (mike talks) there you go another one and then um yah it’s nice to he’s a terrific writer
13:39:06 355.33

Um kind of a combination of everything mostly if there’s something good that i get offered I usually do it unless I’m already doing something else (mike talks) yah but you know it’s also people get hot and they get hot the business is cyclical and sometimes you got people knocking on your door and sometimes there not.

Yah I think it was one of those things where they ask you to take you out the city for the day (mike talks) well I like going to Rigley Field I love going to see the Cubs and the Sox I like going to hear music and eat and I like to it’s a great biking town if you like bicycles you get to bike around that town its great(mike talks) L.A’s bad biking town.(mike talks) The river by the Lake it’s beautiful.
