B-Roll – Shots of Liza Lapira’s Dress.
Sound bites: Liza Lapira – Nice to meet you Brooks, thank you. (talking) Okay it’s Tadoche, um I don’t know what else I should say, it’s gold it’s got sparkles it’s got, I don’t know, it hugs me and I love it. Do you like that? That’s ah that’s Jen my make-up artists Jen. she’s a genius.
Sound bites: Liza Lapira – Something about gambling that you didn’t know (talking) that might help you win. It’s kind of depressing. It’s not going to help you win it’s going to make you want to go home. The odds favor the house, they just do and the um, the odds favor the house and the only way, oh and the only game with a memory is Blackjack. So if there’s if there’s one thing you can conceivably cheat at, obviously it’s it’s 21, it’s blackjack.
Sound bites: Liza Lapira – I did. (talking) Um it’s not so, it’s not crazy as it is, it’s not so much crazy as it is embarrassing. I was counting with the guys badly, I was moving my mouth like… and um the the the dealer just looked at me like go away, what are you, I see what you are doing and she kept um the true count you can count but then you also divide it by the number of decks um oh Kevin’s here, um and she kept moving the deck to throw off the count. So I was just called out is the story.
Sound bites: Liza Lapira – Oh you know what can I, can I tweak that question? Can I just say um and there’s also a theater union called actors equity and they’re SAG and AFTRA. Once, uh the first time I ever got insurance as an actor I felt like I had made it. Like I maybe had a hundred dollars in the bank but I was a bonifide success in my mind because it ligitamized the job like I can go to the dentist based on the fact that I can act and it filled me with pride and thank god I I have an union and thank god I am doing what I love. Thank you enjoy the movie.
B-Roll – Red carpet shots.
Sound bites: ? – About my what? (talking) What movie was this? (talking) I think you’re thinking of, I don’t know who you’re thinking of. I mean that’s a, I mean I filmed the movie where I said ask me about my weiner but that was in the privacy of my home.
Sound bites: ? – Alright, well, aright here’s what I’m going to tell you when you’re playing a game of blackjack, if you count the cards you may or may not win. That’s all I’m going to say. That’s all I’m going to say.
Sound bites: ? – There was one night where I was, I’m not a big gambler, I’m really not, I like to keep the money that I’ve earned, crazy. And uh one night we were uh it was me a couple of my cast mates Jim Sturgess, Kate Bosworth and Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti , the producers, and we were out um at the um Palms, and so were, were, were, throwing down and were throwing down and I’m like, I’m like I got a hundred dollars I’m going to play a hundred dollars, they’re like you play that hundred on one hand at this table so I’m like this is all my money, so I put it in and I’m like oh this is going to be a bad night, got a hundred. And I’m like okay I’ll put another one down, got another hundred, this went on, I got a thousand dollars and I was like this is unbelievable, this is crazy I’m a like I’m a gonna do this. And then one of my fellow cast mates who apparently dosen’t like me was like put it all on one hand double or nothing, so I’m like okay yeah. Gone, no more predume, nothing. I lost everything that night, yeah.
Sound bites: ? – Mosletoff. I got my SAG card on an episode of ER and it was um it was so unbelievably rewarding because you you work to legitimize yourself as an actor and the union is the essence of that it’s like you are now apart of this brotherhood and so I was I was about 21 years old when it happened and it was it was amazing. I was like yeah I made it I made it. Still haven’t received it in the mail though.
B-Roll: Shots of the Red Carpet.
Sound bites: Michael De Luca – This was a fun one this was a fun one. I mean we’re up, we shot for two weeks in four Casino’s we got to gamble inbetween set up’s it was awesome.
Dana Brunetti – Between, we gambled the whole time. They always knew where to find us we were at the tables.
Michael De Luca – So it was really fun.
Sound bites: Michael De Luca – We staked them, we staked them a little bit the first thing that Dana and I did when the whole cast was assembled in town was take them around and get them really comfortable with the blackjack table so just in the beginning.
Dana Brunetti – With some of the team the real guy Jeff Ma, he went out with them a few times, he was actually out with them last night. They, they’re not, they’re stills taying in character.
Michael De Luca – Right I know.
Sound bites: Michael De Luca – Yeah that was me. I’m no MIT math genious so. I got busted.
Dana Brunetti – He can’t do it without moving his lips.
Sound bites: Dana Brunetti – That we made it out alive. I don’t know, um that we were able to shoot in Vegas and no one got killed, no one died, no one went to jail, and uh we pulled it off.
Sound bites: Dana Brunetti – I brought the project to Kevin and then we brought it to Mike.
Michael De Luca – Yeah, but yeah Dana developed it from it’s original source material, the book and uh Spacey got involved after the uh I guess first draft was written.
Sound bites: Michael De Luca – Oh no Ben’s great I mean it was it was awesome having him on set, he was kind of like an unofficial uh you know kind of watch dog for some points in the story.
Dana Brunetti – Yeah part of the process we always wanted to keep him involved all the way through and I’m producing all of his following books as well so we have a very good relationship and he loves being around and being on set it’s like he’s like a kid in a candy, he’s like the guy that can’t get passed the velvet rope.
Michael De Luca – I’ll tell you this when he plays black jack he does surrender, like he surrenders his bet and it’s a pussy move, so I just wanna go on record of saying that, the guy who wrote this book does surrender and its not cool. Never surrender, and never take insurance and always split 8’s and aces. And that’s that.

I want you to ask one of the Producers, he’ll remain nameless how much money he was losing per hand at a certain night at the Belagio and I’m going to leave that to you as an investigative journalist to find out. (talks)
Sound Bite: Kevin Spacey
There weren’t really coming before we started shooting what we came on what we saw research trips uh to Vegas we came with some of the people that were on the team, the MIT Team and the craziest thing really was they’re not allowed to play but the casinos didn’t mind if they were with us so they just stood behind me and every time they wanted me to up my bet cause the deck was getting hot they just pushed against my chair and I won every single hand, I mean every hand. And I wasn’t betting too high that night there’d been other nights where I’d just been on a winning streak and I walked away with over 30,00 dollars, and that pretty good, you buy dinner those night.
Sound Bite: Kevin Spacey – SAG
Yeah uhm you know it was a great sense of pride to be first of all to be paid as a professional and to join an organization that you know as a young actor growing up you know Screen Actors guild was a big, big deal, it still is a big deal, its got some problems but it still is a big deal and uh my hope is that excuse me we’ll celebrate settling soon.
