In: 10.24.36 Out: 10.26.25 Sound Bite: Ryan Reynolds – about his character It was about a year ago it was the summer June (talks) I wish it was twenty something days it was nineteen days (talks) and two locations New York and L.A. yeah it was a huge challenge (talks) well I’ll tell you one of the huge benefits to that was that we didn’t shoot it we didn’t mix them up we shot them separately each piece was shot at a separate time and place so I was kinda able to dive into each one and only worry about that one which was (talks) it is one person I kind of look at it as though its like a puppeteer almost there’s one entity that’s controlling these three different people and these three different people aren’t even people there just aspects of that entity and I kind of look at it like that which is sort of in a sense what limited my yearning to make each one so different they can’t be that different they have to be kind of the same milk the same make up so I just look at it like that I kind of felt like what if the world was a sym game of some kind what if some computer geek was running the entire universe and playing different aspects of himself in this world so that that was kind of the fundamental juice behind the character |

In: 10.26.32 Out: 10.26.55 Sound Bite: Ryan Reynolds That was actually the biggest drawing point for me in the film was the fact that this was the movie is a question as opposed to an answer yet it doesn’t diminish the fulfillment of the experience but you walk away and you debate whether you loved it or hated it or whatever it is I love that that exists that you can leave a modern movie and debate with people as to what it all means |

In: 10.27.28 Out: 10.29.09 Sound Bite: Ryan Reynolds Well you don’t want them to be caricatures just want them to be people and yopu know I think that was the greatest challenge the second piece where I’m playing Gavin who is a gay screen writer I wasn’t playing a gay person I was just playing John you know John is you know it’s an autobiographical piece the middle part f the movie and these are based on Johns experiences and John wanted me to basically expose him you know um so I think it was probably more difficult for John then it was for me because you know he’s seeing me basically playing his hubris on film and that’s a difficult thing to have your warts and all exposed (talks) a lot of his mannerisms yeah definitely his mannerisms I think when you meet him you might see some of that obviously we look vastly different but you know I think it’s just sort of drawing on his essence a little bit and he’s also a great friend of mine and that helps too see you know when you spend a lot of time with somebody you can kind of mimicking him is a little bit easier than just meeting somebody right off the bat (talks) yeah what a little hair dye and a shave will do it’ll change you quite a bit so um yeah we tried to make them look quite different but at the same time have it feel like it’s the same person I mean the trick was to not be indulgent with all these characters to not have one be this wild looking person have another one be Scottish have another one be this the trick was kind of find a common theme throughout each |
