In: 05.34.30 Out: 05.35.01 Sound Bite: George C. Wolfe – is there a relationship that’s there between Gere and Lane Well I think there’s incredible sense of trust and I think the trust translates into a certain kind of ease so therefore they aren’t defending themselves or protecting themselves because occasionally actors have to do that with other actors and because that trust and ease is there, whatever this elusive thing called chemistry comes through as a result of it. I think it’s elusive but I also think it’s very practical. It’s when another person, when you trust another person you allow to fully be who you are and you allow to fully just do the work and not think about anything else. |

In: 05.35.13 Out: 05.35.22 Sound Bite: George C. Wolfe – Gere and his relationship with his leading ladies Absolutely I think there’s a very calm and very calm and sense of confidence that I think allows for this connection to take place. |

In: 05.35.27 Out: 05.35.42 Sound Bite: George C. Wolfe – what kind of movie is this I’d call it an adult love story with complications because it has 2 adults it’s gonna come with complications and um some people say chick flick, I don’t care what they call it as long as they come to see it, because I think it’s a very compelling story. |

In: 05.35.51 Out: 05.36.21 Sound Bite: George C. Wolfe – they don’t make a lot of these movies No this is very true, that’s why I was excited about working on something like this because it’s, I think you’re watching, there’s an aspect of formula, 2 people at an end, so you go, oh okay, what’s gonna happen at the end? Oh I don’t know, they’re gonna connect. So there’s a little bit of that going on but I think the particulars and the specifics of why they are there and who they are and what they bring and the baggers that they drive with them allows for a sense of more of a sense of moment to moment discovery. |

In: 05.36.23 Out: 05.36.44 Sound Bite: George C. Wolfe – how did this movie come together I think they’ve been looking for awhile for them to work together again because Unfaithful’s been awhile and so they were attached and they were involved with the project before I was so you know so um I was sent the script, actually it happened very quickly. I was sent the script sometime in early December and that May I started filming so compared for movies it moved real along really fairly well. |

In: 05.36.48 Out: 05.37.10 Sound Bite: George C. Wolfe – did they build the house for the movie? No the house was there. The house was there in Rodanthe so it was waiting there for us and we just fixed it up and added a little texture. All the interiors were filmed somewhere else, but that house perched on the beach the way it is with the ocean going past it on high tide going past it, it was incredible, it was perfect. |

In: 05.37.16 Out: 05.37.43 Sound Bite: George C. Wolfe I think they dynamics and the story is very respectful of the book. I think there’s certain dynamics, the book is told in an uber flashback if you will with the adult, with Diane talking to her adult daughter and that was removed from the movie because I wanted the audience to go through the discovery process and she is going through the discovery process. I didn’t want to have the vantage point of history, I wanted life to be happening as it was happening for her. |
