Sound Bite: Roddy Piper
Yeah so, my kids, I say go down and visit great grandma, you know and as I said, great grandma died right in front of them. This is like 3 o’clock in the afternoon. She just came in for something, and they’re crying, little corn muffin, you know. So dad’s gotta tell them he’s got cancer, and so I went on the spicket for four weeks, five days a week, got that radiation, they told me I was to stay down for 2 months, 2 weeks later I was doing a movie for MTV called Sweet Sixteen, and I had to get up for those kids, because it rocked their foundation too much. I’d get up every morning I’d throw up, and when I’d go to the bathroom I’d bleed, and I did it because radiation and that stuff stays with you for a year, and after going through all that, you know you have an appreciation for life, and it changes your perspectives, and when you see somebody else that is being a jerk like you were 20 years ago, you know exactly what to say to them without hurting their feelings, and besides all mine was on television, so is you know was like the pot calling the kettle black, they could take no offense, and I found out that my communication and my acting like with John Wayne, he didn’t act he reacted, and all of a sudden it just settled in, and then now I must come back to Hollywood. I have a lady that I don’t get along with that well, but she’s very qualified, Tammy Sheffield, she knows everybody in Hollywood and she’s what you call a life coach. You know mold me into, make me look the best I can. Now I think they’re gonna try and make a reality series, it’s not a reality series, it’s a real series and they’ll make whatever amount of episodes, because I have a large movie coming out, and I had just talked to Vince McMann last night, I was in the ?, and I’m going to go visit Michael Lake of the WWE entertainment department here in LA, and I’m going to see what they have, but I need help in being politically correct and also camera friendly. But as far as the acting itself, if you ever had your feelings hurt real real bad, you’d never do that to anybody no matter how much you hated them. And so that’s how I caught on. |

Roddy – Well first of all, green light entertainment, executive producer Fred Young, approached me about, because I’m going to do this acting anyway, but I do need some help, and he knew Tammy, so he put us together. Tamie – How the marriage happened. Roddy – How the marriage happened. Tamie – Like it or not, we’re in it together. Roddy – Yeah, yeah, and you know one thing it isn’t a setup Hogan Knows Best, whose another wrestler, I’m not doing that. I’m actually, as hard as this is to say to you, she does know what’ she’s talking about. Tamie – and you do know that you do need a little something something if you know what I mean. Roddy – she says to me, you know, I’m a fighter, she says to me, I’m in a restaurant with her, and I just met the lady, and I got this black leather jacket I’ve been wearing for years, she says we gotta do something about that jacket, I says I’ve been wearing this for years, and she says, it looks like it. Tamie – it’s all from here, Roddy, all from here. Roddy – I’m sure it is, yes. A03. HRN-2215 In: 01.46.26 Out: 01.48.05 Sound Bite: Roddy Piper & Tamie Sheffield Roddy – Tamie – Oh gosh, where do I start, where do I start, um you know I think it comes one of a physical aspect, changing the clothes, the hair, the tummy, Roddy – Gee, the tummy. Tamie – You know the physical aspect. Roddy – The tummy. Tamie – you hey I saw you back in your day and you were hot. Not that you’re not hot now, Roddy but, I know. Roddy – only a thousand made of shameless, you can’t buy them, can’t buy them. You can the book though. Tamie – Yes, do the book one more time. Roddy – you can buy the book. Tamie – Ok now getting away from the physical aspect, going to the mental aspect of Roddy. Roddy – see, she does that kind of stuff. Tamie – but for me to kind of bring him down a little, still with the personality, but bring him down a little, because Hollywood is very, gosh I don’t even know what word to use, you have to be careful with everything you say. It’s about who you know, it’s about connections, it’s about personality, but you can turn them off very easily too. And… Roddy – seems to be my fortwa. Tamie – and things have changed since the 80s and 90s, I mean let’s face it. And so with, and you’re just stuck in the 80s and 90s a little bit. Roddy – what? What am I supposed to do, like grow or shrink? Tamie – we’re going to do that with you, we’re going to make you grow. Back and back to reality here in 2008. |

Tamie – You know what, I’ve been thinking about that a lot. A life coach can mean so many things. I’ve been in the business for over 10 years and I guess to give you know credit for myself, I know a lot of people, I’ve been through a lot, a lot of good things a lot of bad things, as we all have our stories, just like I said, I heard you say that Roddy’s got so many stories, so do I. And it’s really matter of talking to, when I said, I don’t even want to say to Roddy to say to anyone what a life coach is, it’s really getting them ready, getting them psyched, getting them mentally and physically, but I think physically is just a part of it, prepared for what they’re gonna do, whether it’s career, personal, physical and that’s what I’m here to do with Roddy. Roddy – The part that is difficult is she’s right. This really sucks. Yeah, I’m getting them in stereo, I’m suing Bose. In surround sound. Tamie – It’s gonna be okay. Roddy – The thing is is yeah, I can’t, I’m not, yeah. Tamie – I got him speechless, this is the first time, or maybe you got him speechless with that. Roddy – No it’s . Tamie – it’s not too many times that you get speechless huh? Roddy – it’s cause i…. Tamie – we got it on tape right now. |

Tamie – You know what, to me, it’s a challenge, and just like you said the challenge for me, I’m excited, I’m looking forward to it, and I mean, hey like I said, the last 10 years has been a challenge and for me this is a personal challenge because I’ve been doing, if you wanna say life coach, if you wanna say guidance, if you wanna say informa, you know I’ve been doing that I think all my life, but especially the last 10 years in Hollywood with the younger girls coming in, with other friends, with family members, with crew, and. Roddy – it’s a kilt. Tamie – I’d have to say for me, he is a big challenge for me and what I’m doing, and I think I can really do it and I wanna show other people that I can do it and we’re gonna do it together, I think that’s what it is too, it’s not just me, because if he’s not in it with me it’s not gonna happen yeah. You just be quiet dear. So it really is a team because I could be doing so much, I could be blah blah blah blah blah, I could be putting in so much effort, and if he’s not in it with me, we’re both gonna fail. Roddy – I’m a terrible schmoozer. Tamie – we found that out. Roddy – You know, I don’t go to a party 5 people, when I was a little boy in like a 7/11, I’d wait. I can go in front of a hundred million, not know the you know fortunately yeah I have to say she’s right on that part. |

Tamie – And sometimes it’s not even one thing that kills me in Hollywood, it’s not even so much about talent. Really talent is like number 3 on the list. It’s pretty much who you know, connections, luck, personality, looks, and then talent is like way down here. (talks) He’s sweating over here. Roddy – Tough crowd you know, they like you give you just like to live Tamie – I mean so when people you know producers and directors they want to work with someone they know they can get along with, that’s professional, that’s not gonna start fights, that’s not gonna have an ego, that’s not gonna say they’re better than anyone else, not that I’m talking about anyone in particular, but Roddy – Rawwweeer. Yes ma’am. Tamie – but I mean, so if you walk in there with an attitude telling people what to do, saying why I did this, you know, I don’t want to use words, sometimes I almost want to say that’s gonna turn someone off. Roddy – Here’s the deal too, here’s the deal too, with respect to the lady is, remember when we were talking if I was training you asked me if when I was fighting let’s say in a movie, was it hard with no people, when I was training I always did 110 percent. I wanna do the best work I can do, and if I don’t swallow my pride and get my head on straight and realize that the lady has been in this town and I can’t do anything but the best I can do, and then she knows. Tamie – and I believe that, and I believe that, and I think if I didn’t believe it. Roddy – it’s very difficult. Tamie – then it’s all just a matter of acting, then it’s all just a matter of BS, so. Roddy – then you just, yeah, this reality show, I don’t even like the name of it, it’s more like, you know what it’s like? It’s like watching the, watching her tear me apart, whatever it is, and watching me, I’m gonna do the movie, but you know I need the acting coach, I need whatever, I need to slim down whatever it is |

Roddy – So the king says, Lions make leopards tame. Mulberry says, Yea, but not change their spots, take up my shame and I resign my gauge, my dear dear lord, the purest treasure mortal times afford is spotless reputation, that away men are but guilded loom or painted clay, a jewel in the barred up chest is a bold spirit in the loyal breast, my honor and my life they grow as one, take my honor and my life is done. So my dear liege, let my honor me try, with that I live, or with that I die. Thank you. Tamie – Wow. I am impressed. Roddy – Well I had it on my hand. Tamie – I would think there were cue cards over here if we weren’t looking in the same place. I am impressed. Roddy – Well maybe there’s hope. That’s the first nice thing she’s said to me. Tamie – oh come on now. We’ve got it on camera. You can’t say I never gave you a compliment, there’s a compliment right there. |

Roddy – Oh no no, she’s got an acting coach. Tamie – That’s gonna be in the works. Roddy – Yeah you know that’s part of, I’d rather call it a documentary because there’s no bologna about it, uh I’ve done 34 films, we’ve talked about They Live, we’ve talked about different things, and there’s 2 acting coaches she suggested, one is Ivana Chevik, who’s a very famous acting coach, another one is Brian Reese, and she has another folk that they want me to see. It’s all part of the process, the thing is I only got about 10 weeks like everything else, you know. Tamie – Pressure. Did I say pressure? Roddy – Yeah, I work good under pressure. |

Roddy – Let’s put it this way, my youngest is 13 years old. My ranch costs 30 thousand dollars a month just to keep it goin. That little baby corn muffin, she’s an honor roll student, on the president’s list, and she’s gonna go to college and be whatever, she deserves to have the other 3 kids have. How am I gonna give her that livin? Fight? Pfft. I can’t fight these guys no more. What am I gonna do, how serious am I? I’ll rip your throat out you get in my auction line. Not auction, audition. I hate audition, audition, geez. Tamie – Audition, auction, same thing. Roddy – That’s why maybe I need her, oh did I say that. It’s a documentary is what it is, it’s you know, I mean obviously she’s a very pretty lady. Tamie – We’re gonna have some speed bumps, we’re gonna have some bumps along the way, but like I said I think we both have the same goal, and we’re both in it from the heart, and I think that’s really and that’s what’s gonna come through. There’s, we’re gonna have some troubles along the way, I also think there’s gonna be a lot of uh successes through the. Roddy – we’re gonna make it. |

Roddy – No but you know if we wanted to make it like a reality series like they have, they would’ve got some wonderful big black lady that would’ve really argued with me. That’s not what this is about. Hey, god bless ? Tamie – He doesn’t know what every episode is yet. Roddy – No I don’t but uh it’s a doc a documentary. |

Roddy – Tamie – You can see the chemistry here is quite interesting to say the least. And I’ll be very vague about that and say interesting. Um but no but seriously, we are gonna live together. Roddy – Let’s clarify that, alright? Tamie – He gets rid of one wife and then he kind of brings in another. But no we are gonna live under the same roof for uh a certain amount of time, and I think this is because we really need to get, we know each other but not enough where you know I can’t just spend 3 hours a day with him, put it that way, you know what I mean, we need to be together all the time, and I think that’s in the mental part of it of everything he needs to do I, it’s for the acting, it’s for our goal, it’s to get him mentally and physically ready. Roddy – and I will be mental after that, without a doubt. But at the same. Tamie – hey you got me speechless, but you said it I didn’t. But um. Roddy – no I understand, I don’t want them ,you know this is, this is as real as it gets, as rowdy as it gets in this particular one Tamie – the goals are real. Roddy – yeah, the goals are real. And you know it’s entertainment, we hope that you enjoy it, but I hope that you enjoy the movie that I’m going to make and after it’s all done and the heartache you know I’ll probably be buying her Bentleys, you know I don’t know, she’s a nice lady. Tamie – you have that on tape, there don’t you there? Roddy – did I say that? Tamie – uh yeah you did, it’s already on there. Roddy – chairs, taking a lot of chairs. (talks) Probably, thank you sir, probably. Tamie – whose side are you on? Whose side are you on? But we do have the goals, I mean we do have the goals, and you know just one of my goals, this is a challenge, and I’m excited for it. Roddy – I am too. Tamie – And I want him to help me to acquire my, to attain my challenge, and to see that if I can do it with Roddy, I can do it with so many other people. And so for me, that’s like, if you want to say a long time goal, a personal goal, that will be the first and Rod will be the first and hopefully many to continue. Roddy – But the lady’s right. Tamie – No pressure, no pressure |

Roddy – Is quite no seriously, um I will understand the industry better the more that I, she knows everybody, she’s been in this town, she’s done a lot of great shows, you know we can kid around, but the lady can tell me what to wear in the morning because I really don’t care what I wear, I never have, but in living together, what that does, it’s not the fact that we are in the same house and you’re gonna look for that banner, it’s the fact that, no Rod you need to get up now and get to the gym and etcetera, I mean you know she’s got a husband, it’s not like they’re throwing us in here. It’s like a lot like boot camp now that I think about it, and if you’re gonna do it you might as well do it with the best and she’s been recommended and as much as I wanna kid with her, and sometimes she really pisses me, ticks me off, uh but it’s not a joke, it’s not I’m not gonna do 3 seasons of it, it’s what it is, and then I’m gonna make the best movies I can possibly make and probably have her at my side as I grow, because it is different, Hollywood and where I come from, 2 different animals and I need this lady. Tamie – I mean I would say with Roddy’s credit he was at the top of the top of wrestling, but there was no where else to go, I mean he was at the top, now with Hollywood, I hate even saying Hollywood, with acting, with movies, he did very very well, but he still could do so much more, and he still got so much more in here and ambition and goals that he can go so much further and I don’t wanna put words in his mouth. Roddy – You’re doing a pretty good job of it. Tamie – The way I look at it too is that you reach the top of wrestling so why can’t you reach the top in acting as well. Roddy – and I’m glad I got you. Tamie –we’ll do it together. Roddy – Absolutely. Tamie – This is where everyone goes awwwww. Roddy – but no it’s true, it’s a documentary, it’s not a reality show. |
