In: 00.00.15 Out: 00.0049 Sound Bite: Fred Durst & Jason Ritter Fred – Yeah that’s uh I’ve kind of always had a passion for filmmakers and filmmaking and being a storyteller and you know the music uh thing coming along and having a life of its own and and helping me get to uh you know having an opportunity to make a film is definitely an interesting route because I never saw myself as a singer that’s for sure and uh I still don’t. |

In: 00.01.59 Out: 00.03.36 Sound Bite: Fred Durst & Jason Ritter Jason – No it was me specifically reading a couple scenes as Mick and uh (talks) Fred – I saw it was a thing that happened in the audition tape and it was very short. I mean he was in New York and I couldn’t get to New York at the time and uhm and it was just there but it was on an audition tape and I, I’m not that guy, I want to meet these people, I’m, I’m an actor directors I want to I want to see if there’s chemistry, if there’s going to be a relationship or not you know and and so I saw it in the tape and it was like ‘oh I really want to meet him, I really want to meet him and then I can tell, I can really tell’. I thought i could tell and uhm as soon as we met I just knew, I just, I mean how he was talking about the character and I just knew, I knew right then and it was a very exciting me? And we were both very passionate, we were riffing and he knew I was serious about making a film, I had a vision and I knew he was Mick and by the end of the our meaning cause there was a lot of actors who wanted to play this part because it’s a great pie- an acting role for a- a great actor and uhm knowing that Jason hadn’t had anything like this before and its risk to me was no risk at all, I saw it right there and I was like ‘this is it, you’re the guy, this is for sure you are definitely this guy’. And that’s kind of how it happened, it was a, I’m so happy to because he’s unbelievable in the movie. |

In: 00.04.06 Out: 00.05.21 Sound Bite: Fred Durst & Jason Ritter Fred – Well with the period you know I was born in 70 and I was you know from 10-20 from 80-90 you know absorbing a lot you know I was one of those types of people and I was really affected by the 80’s and I remember all these little nuances and all these little things and different, you know being someone who had a class struggle and I was definitely on the uh you know not so wealthy and unfortunate side and I also dealt with the peppier side different things , I didn’t have, in North Carolina there was NC State and UNC and things but their wasn’t this Ivy League-ish feel so through my research and things and making a period piece one thing that came very important to me and very relevant was the fact that in a period piece you cant hit people over the head with the things from the period you just take timeless placeless and things and just remove today and make sure you’ve removed all of that and then what do you have? Do we need a couple of things? Oh yeah you know what that guy would wear those squid pants you know those whale pants you know and the tie is the belt and having other people going ‘oh yeah I remember that’ you know like that’s too much or that’s a great idea. And so it just sorta came to life. |

In: 00.05.27 Out: 00.07.00 Sound Bite: Fred Durst & Jason Ritter Jason – Well uhm I I I there was a strangely a lot that I connected to Mick you know the major difference that or actually there’s two major differences he has a lot more confidence then I generally do uhm so I had to pull that out of somewhere but, but the main thing is that the way that he deals with people he doesn’t like is that he beats them up and makes sure that they remember him and remember what they did wrong. My way of dealing with that with my friends is always been to go make fun of those people behind their backs but they, the same, the same fury comes up in me when I meet someone, when I’m faced with sort of injustice for no reason. Just some entitles person treating someone that they perceive as less than them in a disrespectful way, my blood boils. And these are some of the things I was talking about with Fred and I, you know, I, you know my blood boils as much as the next guy, I just you know I count to ten or whatever. And uhm and so but yeah it was a lot of just sort of thinking about where this guy came from and the tools that he was given you know growing up by his family, by his friends you know. My group of friends are all really great funny guys so that was our release. Other people grow up and the only way that they know how to deal with a problem is making it different with their fists and that’s where he came from. |
