Sound Bite: Dan Fogler – on his hair
I’ve been growing my hair out since like high school, it’s always like been a thing and a goatee and so that was sort of a signature thing but uh yeah they just happened to want that for those movies and um they’ll probably want it for other movies too. I think there are some movies coming out where I got this signature long hair, but I like to switch it up. |

Sound Bite: Dan Fogler – any of him in this movie?
I think that he could be like me in a parallel universe, definitely if I went off um if I didn’t get into acting and I just got very much into the stuff I used to play with when I was a kid definitely like if I got really just, and I could see myself just like totally in another world having just sitting in a room piled high with Star Wars GI Joes and comic books. Just putting them all in like plastic sheaths. |

Sound Bite: Dan Fogler – on Star Wars fans relating
No I think, yeah that was very important when the script was written and Kyle Newman definitely tried to um cater to the needs of the actual fans coming to see this movie. We never wanted to make them feel bad about being a fanboy, it was a celebration of fanboydom, you know. |

Sound Bite: Dan Fogler – Trekkie fans are kind of weird
Well because there isn’t really a name for Star Wars fans, they’re Star Wars fans, but Star Wars fans are Trekkies or Trekkers and they uh and in our movie they represent the guys who are constantly constantly dressed up in the pastel uniforms and that’s their life, that’s the statement that we were trying to make. But uh I’m an equal opportunity sci-fi person you know. (talks) I don’t want to. |

Sound Bite: Dan Fogler – appeals to the loser guy
Yeah I think the audience, like you said the um fans will come to the movie and they’ll see a bit of themselves in there. |

Sound Bite: Dan Fogler – lovable loser
Lovable loser, that’s definitely the phrase. Everyone loves an underdog, I don’t think that’s an old thing. Rocky Balboa’s an underdog, everyone loves Rocky Balboa. |

Sound Bite: Dan Fogler – did George Lucas have any kind of contact
Yeah he was sort of a godfather along the way where he would take a look at the script and say, “Here are some shekels, continue,” you know and then later on in the process he’d take a look at it and then by the time it was starting to formulate he really put his stamp of approval on it and I think he really digs the movie a lot. |
