In: 11.35.59 Out: 11.36.16 Sound Bite: Aaron Yoo & Ari Graynor – did they coordinate outfits? *RC Graynor – We called each other and we’re like, “Let’s look really cool.” Yoo – Yeah. She was born looking cool though. So I did a lot of work. Graynor – Out of the womb in these boots. Yoo – Yeah, exactly. Boot first out of the womb actually. Graynor – I did. |

In: 11.36.17 Out: 11.36.59 Sound Bite: Aaron Yoo & Ari Graynor *RC Graynor – Yeah I mean I definitely thought about this outfit I mean there’s been debates about the premiere dress, I feel like I didn’t find what I wanted but you had to put together your outfit, but this kind of came together in the relatively-ish sort of time. This is my mom’s necklace, which I like. Yoo – Am I allowed to do this? What’s great about this is… Graynor – Flip it. Yoo – You can make strange you know messages. Graynor – We’re going to come up with like a code for the necklace it hasn’t happened yet. Yoo – Like this means something. Graynor – I have a lot of feelings going around this me as a whole thing. A03. HRN-2684 Cam A In: 11.37.09 Out: 11.37.48 Sound Bite: Aaron Yoo & Ari Graynor – how did she play drunk? Graynor – I um first of all, to call all rumors, I was sober during that entire shoot. There is no drinking on set. But I did um have my boyfriend and friend videotape me getting very drunk before the movie started so that I could watch myself from start to finish and just see, there’s nothing worse than watching a movie with a bad drunk and it was scary because I was drunk the entire movie so it’s like if I get it wrong it’s going to be really painful for a lot of people so I uh I wanted to try and make it as fun but also true to form as possible so. |

In: 11.37.50 Out: 11.38.08 Sound Bite: Aaron Yoo & Ari Graynor – hard part to play? Graynor – Well it’s a fine line where you wanna, it’s you wanna be over the top because that’s kind of the sort of my role in the movie is to kind of kick it up in that way and have fun but you don’t want it to be ridiculous so you know I hope that it’s not too ridiculous. |

In: 11.38.29 Out: 11.39.37 Sound Bite: Aaron Yoo & Ari Graynor – the gay band aspect Yoo – Well you know I mean it has the benefit of coming from, Rachel and David wrote this you know amazing book and it has the benefit of this sort of like unique complexity of like real kids instead of like, instead of what in general the industry wants, has given you in the past of like an idea of what high school life is supposed to be like that you know that everyone else is supposed to mirror that but whatever. It’s like there are kids, everybody lives like this you know like and it so I don’t know if it’s supposed to be a teen movie. Graynor – I think the movie is like a revisioned romantic comedy, and not a romantic comedy in terms of what you usually think, I feel like if you actually think about the words “romantic” and “comedy” that’s what it is, like, and I think also that even though there’s young people in it, it’s such a universal story that people who are in their 20s, 30s, 40s, everyone has had this night, everyone has had friends like this, everybody has felt these feelings so it’s something that people can feel such nostalgia for and really enjoy it as somebody not in high school, you know? |

In: 11.39.41 Out: 11.40.29 Sound Bite: Aaron Yoo & Ari Graynor – getting into bars underage Graynor – Welcome to New York honey. Yoo – Yeah I know (talks) I was like, a little drive and ingenuity can get you very far in downtown Manhattan. Graynor – I got the worst fake I.D. in the world actually right outside of Port Authority and you know I don’t know when it was 2000 and it literally said, the hologram said “Not Fake.” And it still got me into places. Yoo – I used to get into places with an international student’s ID. Like a laminated card that you would write all your information on, stick your picture on, and they would laminate it and it was like, obviously it’s either, those things actually exist by the way, but it obviously that doesn’t even hold water you know but if they’re going to accept it they’re just like sliding you in anyway, you know. |
