In: 03.02.59 Out: 03.03.45 Sound Bite: Paul Rudd & Jason Segel – movies are fresh Segal – Thank you. Well we try to write movies that are based in truth. We didn’t write this, our director John Hamburg did, but we try to um we try to base our movies on universal issues and uh and so you can’t define you know life, can you, and that’s what uh this movie is just about friendship in general. Rudd – It depends because you can’t define life but uh it would be say the breakfast cereal or possibly the board game. Segal – Ah. Sure. Rudd – The grand scheme of things, life is tougher. (talks) Uh I think that there’s elements of comedy and drama uh which is why we have the drama masks on all of our trailers. Segal – There’s elements of romantic comedy and there’s elements of buddy movie. There’s elements of guy movie and elements of a girl movie. |

In: 03.03.49 Out: 03.04.38 Sound Bite: Paul Rudd & Jason Segel – cringe factor to what’s going on *RC at end Segal – We embrace our awkwardness uh in life and in film. Rudd – Well I think that you know there’s um certainly uh John Hamburg and Judd Apatow who’s the mare of comedy comedies these days. I think we all like a lot of the same stuff and we’re all sentimental in a way but I think we’re, I know that I’m nervous when you get into the sentimental part of things and it becomes treakily and you want it to be real and so sometimes if you can just take the shine off of it with a boner joke or something, it makes it a little more palpable. (talks) By the way I just… Segal – Palatable, palatable. Rudd – Palpable is not the way to go. Palpatine. Segal – Palpatine. It makes it a little more Emperor Palpatine. Rudd – Yeah it makes it a little more… |

In: 03.04.42 Out: 03.05.40 Sound Bite: Paul Rudd & Jason Segel – did the made up words come from them or script *Maybe RC Segal – No one has done, I have never seen a performance that is so perfectly awkward than what Paul accomplishes in this movie. Rudd – It is not a performance. Segal – Yeah. It started for us it started when I said to Paul, would you like a beer? To which Paul responded. Rudd – Um yeah I’ll snake a braiman. Segal – What? Rudd – Snake, I said snake… Segal – Oh, snake a braiman. (talks) Rudd – No no. I think braiman was one of the was just kind of started, was the first one, um “I’ll snake a braim.” Segal – I’ll snake a braim. Rudd – I’ll snake a braim. And you know um in college I had a friend who would say like, oh let’s go for a cruiser. He was calling beers cruisers. Um and I think there was he had elements of that. He used to call people Shabe instead of dude. He said “Hey what’s up Shabe?” So jobin and all those things are probably variations of those. |

In: 03.05.45 Out: 03.06.32 Sound Bite: Paul Rudd & Jason Segel – what makes rock bands attractive Rudd – Our age. Segal – Well, your age. Rudd – My age. Segal – I’m still a young man. Rudd – Um, yes not me, I’m really, Rudy Valley wasn’t available. (talks) Well Rush in particular I know that John Hamburg thought that what better band to kind of uh bring 2 guys together in a way, they’re you know they’re a legendary band but uh they’re never at the forefront, they’re never mentioned and they also with like the Stones and those band um but they’re all so they have a heavy male fan base. It doesn’t seem like the kind of thing that could a band that could drive a wedge between Rasheda and us. |
