Craig – Yeah the initial idea for the movie came out from stories I heard um from my father who was actually a Sony record producer for a brief second and went around the country for second and didn’t know he was a scam artist he thought he was going around signing undiscovered artist in following up he realized nothing was happening and he was stealing there money. |

Pat- I mean I think he extrapolated He took a lot from his father and built up a story I don’t think his father really didn’t do it that long he realized what they were doing in this story we wanted the person the people auditing wanted it so bad that they would be willing to ignore the obvious that it’s a scam in the same way this salesman is wanting to make a difference in the same way his willing to do what rationally do what he know his not right. |

Craig– That’s correct during like some of the set pieces the umm two record producers Pat and Kenny Holiday are auditions people some of these people we actually built these rooms we were able to put hidden cameras in the same room and put ads in the local newspaper telling people to come and audition for a record producer so people actually coming in and not initialing at least not knowing they where in a film a you know at some point we would take them back and explain the whole scenario and ask the would they like to be a part of it and kind of tell them where we are coming from no midway through sometimes some of them also were like actually knew about it and didn’t quite know it was a moving and just came to audition very improvy in one case someone driven up from Atlanta which is like 4 hours away and they when they got there took them to my producer and was we didn’t know you would be coming all the way from Atlanta let me take into this room and we will explain what this is we will pay for your gas money sorry you know and that person agreed to do it Pat and myself and the other actor weren’t like ticked off it was kinda like the reverse. Pat-She in the film they punked us |

Craig – Yeah yeah its kinda improve and someone not knowing there being filmed in most cases and in a sense so many times in acting your wanting it to be real you just having to force yourself it wasn’t like that it was just people being real it was improve in the truest nature in the sense of world you know really real in the sense of recording for the relationship for Kenny and I we didn’t know each other in beginning and the we started with that reality stuff and we are getting better at what we do to as we go along as |

Pat – In directing these like improve scenes we would talk ahead of time and we would like have a idea of what was happening like we knew that the next person was gonna be a rapper named Gonga so I would like prep and say you know what happens as a marketing technique you are gonna suggest he change his name because like you know just gonna go with and see how that goes we had cell phones that we had the script in I would say it was the company phone we would have it and it was my way of during these 45 minute long courses say during these improve sessions and call and say Craig – We would act like the boss is calling which is true because the boss was calling. |

Craig – Yeah he say something great later on when I ask him about the plane tickets you know how many times ive been on a plane and I don’t know how this works and I think its a lot of people both us the salesman and people auditioning are sort of living that world were we may become sort of blah about it in new York and los angeles not everyone is so savvy about how these things work that’s how people can be taken advantage by it so easily |

A08. HRN-1523 Sound Bite: Craig Zobel and Pat Healy
Pat – Yeah we would stop it before there where like any handing over money or anything like that we would take them back and explain it to them in detail in what we where doing making a feature film but also what this and how these scams work where we were coming from we would let them come backstage meet the camera crew and meet everyone in some cases they would eat lunch with us and we would invite them and often times they would know where we were coming from and want to be apart of it was important for us to make it feel like an inclusive thing so |
