Sound Bite: Rachel McAdams – she followed a journalist
Yeah yeah we were, we actually had a journalist from the Washington Post who was on set all the time and um that was great and I followed um you know some journalists around and we went to the post and we went to Capitol Hill and I went to um the ? in Toronto and talked to people from all you know sides of it, you know the online side and the print side.
Sound Bite: Rachel McAdams – newspaper journalists work 10x harder than anyone
I don’t know how they do it, I don’t know how they do it, I mean the pressure that they’re under, the deadlines, um the all the balls they have to juggle all at once. The politics and keeping sources secretive you know a secret and having relationships with the cops and the politicians and it’s like the movie. It’s really like the movie.
Sound Bite: Rachel McAdams – journalists put themselves in danger
They do and they do for years sometimes they work on things, they’re like undercover detectives and I mean yeah it’s um yeah pretty admirable.
Sound Bite: Rachel McAdams – did she realize the important role of the journalist
Yeah I mean you could even see it when you’d walk into you know the offices where you know the I remember one side was all brand new and renovated and that was the online side, and then these poor people have their old typewriters you know, it’s not that bad but, um but yeah definitely you know talking about who you’re responsible to that you know newspapers are no longer independently owned you know they’re (talks) yeah and you have to tell sexy stories not necessarily truthful stories.
Sound Bite: Rachel McAdams – on Crowe
I didn’t really other than the fact that I find you know he’s quite powerful as a person you know or at least you know on screen he is and it’s the same in real life you know he’s really incredibly intelligent but he likes to have a lot of fun too, he’s very playful and um I don’t know we had a really great time and it just was beautiful to watch him play a character and immerse himself in that completely and you know he came on he had a backstory for the bracelets that he was wearing and he had a little inkspot on his shirt and you know and this endearing little pot belly, it was just perfect, it was perfect and you know you can tell he puts a lot of thought into things.
