Sound Bite: Shia LaBeouf – on working with same people
Well we enjoy each other (talks) well he was going to direct it, he just couldn’t find a window and initially it was Steven, Tom Cruise, that was Eagle Eye. And then uh it just changed, it morphed into something else. And me and DJ love each other so it was you know its just a good vehicle for both of us to have a lot of fun, its like going to summer camp with your best friends.

Sound Bite: Shia LaBeouf – on film being hard to make

Sound Bite: Shia LaBeouf – on scary things CIA can do
Yeah I mean ten years ago it was a sci-fi idea now it’s a very tangible fear, you know its rooted in truth you know and after the movie my my knowledge of this you know has gone haywire which makes it even, it’s a frightening thing (talks) One in five phone conversations are recorded. I had a CIA operative who was working on a phone conversation I had two years prior to joint he movie, that scared the shit out of me (talks) its terrifying, in fact your ADT security box can be used against you cause it has a microphone in it, it can be activated from Tuscan you know to listen what you’re saying. On Star Navigation you can shut your car down. You can be on the Freeway and somebody can go boop and your whole car can shut down.

I can tell you that uhm (talks) I can tell you it’s a cat and mouse game. I can tell you its life and death at every turn, its uhm, the easiest way to describe the movie is the same way you felt about Jaws coming out of the theatre and you’re feelings towards the ocean and and and uh Sharks, you’ll have the same fear rooted in technology. You’ll walk out of the theatre and look at your phone and you’ll feel something. Uhm its got a very scary, dark undercurrent to it and it’s a very bad ass movie you know there’s a lot of bang, bang, bang in it and uh and uhm DJ’s just a great director.

This is some of the best car stuff I’ve ever seen uhm I’d put it up there with like Ronan and The Blues Brother chases and and uh you know French Connection and Perplexed View, its just very, its kind of 70’s (talks) yeah its practical stuff. There’s minimal CGI, the only stuff that’s really CGI is the jet and the tunnel but uh most of the stuffs for real and even the stuff in the tunnel is uh, uh is a layered shot, its just trickery with framing. But there’s not a lot of CGI in this movie, there’s really a lot of pyro.
